It is is a good extension. However there is a major flaw. This extension allows access to the same blog via different category structures and thereby giving different category urls. To resolve this, you add to specify the canonical urls for post view page. Edit file app/code/community/AW/Blog/Block/Post.php and edit function

Thanks so much for offering this extension for free. It is very easy to install and adds an essential feature to magento.

I used it before but no option 2 or more words for tags. Also it doesn't generate blog url, you must set it for every blog item. Thus, i removed it and installed Wordpress but no more Magento Blog -native- alternative. I believe they'll add more features in future.

Great extension. I use it www.showfront.com.au and get top rankings regularly when targeting long tail keyphrases.

The additional tags can sometimes be a pain and creates heaps of duplicate content, so we use a canonical tag on the site that helps Google pick up the URL we want to use.

Overall, very happy and recommending to another client now.

Great extension. In my case the example blog caused a problem. Somehow it had the date 25 september 0000. This of coarse can not be calculated to a date. After editing and saving the example (this changed the date) it worked as promissed!

I bought a paid aheadWorks extension then tried to download the Blog extension but got an error message which disabled my website and backend. The aheadWorks team was able to restore my site and let me know the source of the problem and how they fixed it almost as soon as I submitted a help query. Absolutely amazing :-)

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the whole team at Aheadworks who helped me out with a situation recently. I had a couple of problems where one of our websites was displaying a Fatal Error which looked to be linked to the Aheadworks extension. I've purchased a lot of mods from Aheadworks and this was something i thought was a little strange (as the blog had been installed for a long time!)

I came to the aheadworks website and logged onto their live chat to try figure out how I could disable the mod. Within 5 minutes, I had disabled the mod and another fatal error had appeared. It was evident that the fault i had with the website wasn't anything to do with aheadworks and something more in the code of the website.

I asked if they had any suggestions to point me in the right direction for solving the problem and the customer service rep asked me to wait for 5 minutes. Out of goodwill, they agreed to help me with the solution (even though it wasn't anything to do with their mod) and I submitted the issue to their helpdesk.

Less than an hour later, Pavel replied to me saying they'd identified the issue and fixed everything for me. It was to do with a coding error in one of the files that once it had been commented out, made the site work perfectly.

This has been a huge help and It didn't cost a penny. They were absolutely fantastic with support and although I have purchased quite a few mods from Aheadworks in the past, I think they genuinely were happy to help!

Probably the best customer service I have ever received from any company! Fantastic!

Hi, this free extension is working for my magento 1.5.1 and I am satisfied with it. The place picture could have been better, but it is working :-)

Works great out of the box.
Followed instructions and copied some folders both the default and the custom template, just in case.
Flushed all magento and browser cache and stilla had to login logut a few times (was getting 404 on the settings)
Works great straight out of the box ! great job !

Easy to customize to your own wishes and allround good extensions for a simple blog.

Would be nicer with multi-lang and with seperate identifiers for multishop as with default magento blocks.

Would be much nicer if you guys found a way to integrate the site search :)

This extension works great for sites where we are not pairing up Magento with Joomla for CMS, and the client just wants to be able to blog. A simple solution that is easy to learn/use. Thanks!

We tried the old version without success on our custom theme but the newest version works well and the forum provided some great tips on set-up. AheadWorks makes some great extensions and this one is no exception.

Pro: Overall a good solution to reduce template implementation and administration costs.
Cons: No multilingual or multi-store support, Magento site search not supported.

I couldn't be more impressed. This is an incredible product for being totally free to the public. Thanks so much for all of your hard work.

Installation was not easy. Needs very careful copying of files to correct folders.
Especially if you are using custom themes, files need to also be copied to custom theme folders and default theme folders for the backend category and post function to work. Limited customization for featuring recent blog posts on site homepage. However if you are looking for a blog integrated to Magento this will work. Thanks for developing this.

Just updated to 1.0.21 to get the WYSIWYG capability in 1.4 and it's working great.
My only problem is that the tiny_mce plugins are called from the root directory, whereas I have my magento installation in a separate folder. Easy fix was just to copy the images over to the root directory. Not a problem!!

Very good basic blog extension. Simple to use and completely integrated with Magento, great work !

However I have the same remark than Chris, this extension doesn't provide a full support of multiple store / store views as it doesn't allow to put the same identifier for post or categories. So you cannot switch between 2 languages for a post or a category to show differents translations of the same content.

Great extension! Installed and worked perfectly! However, I noticed this came with social icons in the images folder...any idea how to get the share buttons on the blog posts?

I can't had the wysiwyg on post edit..

There is the fix:

In the file /app/design/adminhtml/default/default/template/aw_blog/head.phtml
replace this two rows:

<script src="<?php echo $this->getSkinUrl('') ?>aw_blog/js/init_rte.js"></script>

with these:

This is a remarkably useful extension, thank you so much. Any chance a latest post block module might be in the works? I'd love to see a snippet of the latest post (or posts) available in a block that I could then place anywhere. :)

Great extension! Love it!

Just upgraded from 1.0.19 to 1.0.20, all went without a hitch. Best feature of 1.0.20 is that it now contains the same WYSIWYG editor as the Magento CMS pages including image upload! Many thanks to AW for a great community add-on.

Excellent extension, it would be even nicer with multilingual capabilities. Currently, You can't keep the same identifier for different store views, which would allow for additional languages for the same post. (As we do for blocks and CMS pages)
